News from Mercy Center
The New Year has arrived for good and we are already on February...!! We praise God for all of His blessings, during the holidays, and all throughout January.
The program with the Bags of Love is still in continuation, as we have a certain amount of blankets still and we offer them every time we have outreaches in Vathi and Omonia Squares. We thank the Lord for every brother and sister that offered money to support this effort, but for those that offered time and effort to give out these Bags of Love.
Every Tuesday at 7:00 we open up the Mercy Center for families of, mainly, Afghani refugees and we show the movie Jesus in the Farsi dialect, and we also show other Evangelistic movies in this language. We give a message with a translation in their language and we play with the children using games and painting. At the end we offer hot food that we have cooked in our Center or has been given to us by the Free Evangelical Church of Agias Barbaras with the personal help of brother Manolis and Aggelikis Miliori. After 8:30 on Tuesdays, after the refugees leave, which are about 70 people with children, a team goes out to Vathi Square and invites young and older people who are in the trap of addiction back to the Mercy Center. In this way, from approximately 9:00 until 11:00 we have an evangelistic program with hymns, testimonies, and a message with the love and touch of God...! At the end we offer cooked food.
Every Thursday at 8:00 we gather at the Mercy Center to lift up God and pray for preparation for our regular outreach with tea, croissants, flyers, New Testaments and a Message at Omonia Square...it is a special night that produces much response from most of the 300 addicted people of the Square...
Lastly, every Saturday at 7:00 we gather for prayer and preparation at the Mercy Center and at 8:00 we open the door to everyone who has been informed, has taken a leaflet or is invited by friends to come to our Center. Our team always goes out at 8:00 in the nearby squares that they may bring some who don't know the Center or they are not able to remember... In this way, around 9:00 we have an evangelistic program and is a special blessing for us and for us who for the first or hundredth time are in our midst.
Last Saturday we had the young people from the Greek Evangelical Church of the Northern Suburbs with us and it was a special blessing as the team worshipped, shared testimonies, messages and a Christian rap song... Praise God for every coworker, colaborer that He brings near us, to lift a little bit of our burden...
Recently we have started to open up our doors every Wednesday at 5:00 at the Center and to accept refugees especially to choose from our many used clothing articles that we have gathered and20this is also an important help that we could of fer.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at about 10:30 we have a very blessed time with the people that we house and we serve for a year now, so that they may be freed and that the Lord would build within them the new creation that only He can make... In this way we worship with them, pray, share testimonies and messages from the Word of God and it is a very constructive time of becoming free in Christ for them but at the same time also a very important time of renewal for us. During this time we house 4 guys and a newest guy will enter shortly. From January 29th and for the following month, we will have two sisters in Christ with us, co labourers from New York, from Times Square Church that is founded by David Wilkerson, who were also here in October as well. Taking advantage of this opportunity we begin a trial program of rehabilitation of addicted women slowly with one young woman for a start. We ask that you pray for all of these things and especially for the women's program, that it may progress well and we would have blessed results for the salvation of more addicted people.
Central Heating at the Mercy Center!!!
We are in the midst of a study from an experienced company in whose mechanic department are studying the heating units that are needed to warm to a satisfactory level and as economical as possible the entire building, abiding by the State safety regulations. The study in continuation will be subject to the Public Company of Natural Gas for check and approval and then the installation work will begin. In this way, we are estimating that in about a month we will have heating in the entire building. In the meanwhile, we believe that until then we will also have concentrated the rest of the amount that we still need for the entire installation which is about 4,000 Euros, depending on the final price that the company will give us. We ask that you pray about this and you stand close to us as you are able to and as the Lord guides you. One way is this: 10 people offer from 400 Euros or 20 from 200 Euros or 40 from 100 Euros. Would you like to be one of these individuals?
We have a special need for a refrigerator for the specific women's program.
If you have some fridge that works and for various reasons you do not need it anymore or you know of someone who c could cover this need, please let us know...
There are so many things that are happening and the needs so many we would like to try over other option before purchasing something. The Lord is our Provider and to Him we look with trust. Praise His name for the things He is doing and will do through our service at the Mercy Center.
